Hello, my name is Iris C. Nixon. I want to take this opportunity to say that on January 16, 2006, at UNC Chapel Hill one of the most famous Civil Rights Leaders of the "Little Rock Nine" in Arkansas gave a speech on his trials and tribulations on segregation during the Civil Right Era. On this particular night, we celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. I greeted Ernest Green personally in the reception hall at the Student Union that night. Civil Rights speaker, Ernest Green autographed my student program; It was indeed the greatest experience. I extended this gift to my mother, Merrill Nixon Hines. Written By: Iris C. "Hey! What can I say Dynomite?" he (JJ Walker) said to me. JJ Walker signed an autograph photo of his "Good Times" sit- com character while in the Raleigh Durham area during stand-up comedy at Charlie Goodnights in 2010, a club in Wake County. Written By: Iris C. Nixon |
